Privacy Policy

BingeMark ("BingeMark", "we", "us", or "our"), operated by Rahul Shinde, provides a mobile application for tracking movies, TV shows, anime, and books (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. By using the App, you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

We only collect what the App needs to work:

• Google Drive: If you enable Google Drive Backup, we access Google Drive using the drive.file permission. This lets the app create and update a single backup file ("BingeMark Backup.xlsx") in your own Google Drive. We cannot see, read, or modify any other files in your Drive.
• Files you import: If you use Import, you choose a spreadsheet or CSV file from your device. For movies and shows, we read only the title names and match them against The Movie Database (TMDB). For books (including a Goodreads export), we read the titles, authors, ISBNs and your ratings to match books. We do not keep the original file.
• Screenshot import: If you import a screenshot of a list, the text is read on your device. Only the titles it finds are sent to our servers. The image itself is never uploaded.
• Camera (barcode scanning): If you scan a book, the camera image is processed on your device to read the barcode. Only the ISBN number is sent to our servers to find the book. We never store or upload camera images, and the App does not use your microphone.
• Shared content and links: If you share a title or a link to BingeMark from another app (for example Netflix, Prime Video or JioHotstar), we receive the shared text to open the matching title. For some links, our server opens the link once to read the title shown on that page. We do not store the link.
• Account information (from Google Sign-In): When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo. We use this to create and secure your account. We never receive or store your Google password.
• Your activity in the App: The titles you add to your watchlist, mark as watched, add to your Hall of Fame, your episode/season progress, and any feedback you send us. This is what powers your stats, levels, badges, and library.
• Books and reading activity: The books you add and their shelf (Wishlist, Reading, Finished, DNF, Hall of Fame), your current page, reading sessions you log with the timer, and your ratings. This powers your reading stats, levels and badges. Your ratings stay private to BingeMark and are not shared with any book service.
• Basic technical data: Standard server logs needed to operate and secure the service (for example, timestamps of requests).
• Advertising and diagnostic data: Our ads partner collects certain data to serve ads. See "Advertising" below.

We do not collect payment information. Outside of advertising (see the Advertising section), we do not collect your contacts, SMS, or photos on your device.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

• Create and maintain your account and sign you in.
• Save and sync your library across devices.
• Generate your personal statistics, levels, badges, and streaks.
• Respond to feedback and support requests.
• Keep the service secure and working reliably.
• Show ads that keep BingeMark free (see Advertising).

We use Google Drive Backup to export your library (watchlists, watched titles, books and reading shelves, ratings) as a spreadsheet and upload it to your Google Drive at your request. This is a one-way backup: deleting the file in Drive does not affect your data in the app. We use Import to match the titles or books from your file and add only the matches you confirm.

We do not sell your personal information.

Third-party services we rely on

The App uses trusted service providers to function. Data is shared with them only to provide the service, not for their own marketing:

• Google Sign-In and Google Drive (Google LLC): for authentication and optional backup.
• Google AdMob (Google LLC): to show ads that keep the App free.
• The Movie Database (TMDB): for movie, TV and anime metadata, search, and images.
• OMDb: optional source for IMDb ratings shown on detail pages.
• Google Books API (Google LLC): for book search, details and covers. We send search terms and book identifiers, not your personal information.
• Open Library (Internet Archive): for book details, covers, editions, author pages and public ratings. We send book titles, ISBNs and author names only.
• Google ML Kit text recognition: runs on your device to read text from screenshots you choose to import. Images are not sent to Google or to us.
• MongoDB Atlas: secure database that stores your account and library.
• Render: cloud hosting for our backend service.
• Resend: used only to email us your feedback, if you send any.

Google API Services User Data Policy

BingeMark's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data accessed via Google Drive (drive.file) is used only to create and maintain your backup file, and is never sold, transferred to others, or used for advertising.

How your data is stored and protected

Your data is stored in a secured MongoDB Atlas database. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) between the App and our servers. We restrict access to your data to what is necessary to operate the App.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time:

• In the App: Profile → Settings → Delete account. This removes your account, library, books and reading history immediately.
• On the web: visit our Account Deletion page and follow the instructions.

After deletion, your account and library data are permanently removed from our database. Backups, if any, are cycled out within 30 days.

Children's privacy

The App is not directed to children. You must meet the minimum age required in your country to use the App. We do not knowingly collect data from children below that age. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

You can access your data in the App at any time, export your library to a spreadsheet (Profile → Export my data), and delete your account and data as described above. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act; to exercise them, email us.

You can disconnect Google Drive anytime from Profile → Google Drive backup → Disconnect, which revokes the app's access. You can also revoke access at Google Account permissions. You can delete your account and all associated data from Profile → Settings.

Advertising

BingeMark displays third-party advertisements through Google AdMob. To serve ads, AdMob and its partners may collect and process certain data, including your device's advertising ID, IP address, approximate (non-precise) location, device information, and app-interaction and diagnostic data. This data is used to serve, measure, and improve ads and to detect fraud. Ads are personalized only where you have given consent; otherwise you receive non-personalized ads.

We do not sell your personal data. Ad-related data is shared with Google and its advertising partners for the purposes above. To learn how Google uses this data, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, you will be asked to consent to personalized advertising, and you can change your choice at any time. You can also opt out of ad personalization or reset your advertising ID in your device settings (Settings > Google > Ads).

BingeMark is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, BingeMark schedules occasional reminders on your device, for example to keep your streak going. They are created on your phone and do not use any tracking. You can turn them off anytime in your phone's settings.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, provide notice in the App or by email.
